“What a long strange trip it has been,” state senator Chris Romer wrote early this morning, at the end of a note with his latest round of proposed changes for the bill that would drastically restructure this state’s medical marijuana industry.

The Colorado Legislature has just seven more days in the session, which means lawmakers will be working hard to get through the remaining bills — and the MMJ community will be working just as hard to stay up with all the action. But tonight, a break: The Daily Show‘s piece on Denver’s medical marijuana scene is slated to air.

That’s the tweeted word from Miles Kahn, the producer who spent a couple of days in town last month, taking a crew and correspondent Jason Jones on a tour of Denver dispensaries and stopping off at Westword for an interview with pot critic William Breathes.

The schedule could change, of course; The Daily Show may be comedy, but it takes a cue from current events — and the fact that a bomb-laden SUV was discovered outside Comedy Central’s office in Time Square this weekend could cause a lineup juggle.

$50,000

But in the meantime, 8 Rivers is planning a viewing party (the restaurant’s owners also own Apothecary of Colorado, where the Daily crew filmed), and others are likely to crop up around town as people tune in to see just how high the Mile High City looks.

What a long, strange trip it’s been.
