Bad day for Denver on the national news. On Fox & Friends this morning, the five-minute hourly update included a piece on the Darrent Williams slaying, a segment on Denver’s third big blizzard (including a live report from the National Western Stock Show on the status of all those frozen cows and their snowbound owners), and an assessment that when it comes to the 2008 national convention, neither New York City or Denver “is a very easy choice.”

Still, when the Democratic National Committee announces its pick (predicted for later this week, after many postponements), it will be Denver. And for one reason only: Hillary Clinton. With other candidates jumping into the fray, it would be a mistake to put the convention in the home state of a contender this early.

Okay, and one other good reason: It doesn’t snow in Denver in August.
