Where Tom Tancredo goes, trouble follows.

Restoration Weekend drew a cadre of famous conservatives to South Florida this past weekend — but the Colorado congressman was the one who grabbed the headlines, after he referred to Miami as a “third-world country.”

And President Bush has only himself to blame, Tancredo continued, because of his push for immigration reform: “He is going to do what he can to create a place where the idea of America is just that — an idea.”

Just as predictable as Tancredo stealing the GOP’s thunder was Governor Jeb Bush’s subsequent slap of the Coloradan, which inspired this letter today.

Tancredo won’t be holding his breath for any invitation to “a stay at a five-star beachfront hotel” — which is what his spokesman said Tancredo would need before he’d visit Miami again. — Patricia Calhoun
