Rollin Oliver, the 21-year-old accused of murdering Denver Police Officer Celena Hollis at City Park in June, was back in court this morning, where his defense attorney requested that the preliminary hearing in the case be postponed. His attorney explained that there’s a lot of evidence in the case and he’d just received a new batch. “We have not had a chance to go through that yet,” he explained. The judge decided to delay the hearing.
The preliminary hearing, at which more details about the case are expected to emerge, has been rescheduled for September 13. A state prosecutor explained to the judge that “new witnesses are coming forward.”
Oliver wore a bright red jumpsuit and shackles at the short hearing this morning. He did not speak. Several observers in the courtroom paid close attention to the proceedings. One middle-aged woman repeatedly said in a hushed tone, “They’ve got the wrong guy.”
