As noted in our first Mile High Murder No. 59 blog, murders in Denver proper were down in 2009. Unfortunately, though, the first homicide of 2010 took place mere hours after the start of the next decade.
The incident took place on January 1 at 1434 North Lipan Street. Although the victim’s name hasn’t been released to date, the person arrested for investigation of first degree murder is out. He’s Robert Haskins, 43. On January 1, 2010, at 3:11a.m. Denver Police received a call regarding a fight at 1434 North Lipan Street. When Officers arrived on scene they found a man not breathing. Paramedics transported the male victim to Denver Health Medical Center where doctors pronounced him dead. Detectives are investigating the death as a homicide. Through the investigation, detectives determined that the victim and another man were involved in a physical altercation. During the altercation the victim collapsed. Police arrested Robert Haskins, 3/18/1966, for investigation of First Degree Murder. The exact cause of death and the victim’s identity are pending the results of the Coroners’ Office.
