Late last night, shots rang out on the 1900 block of North Clinton Street in Aurora, and a sixteen-year-old just identified as Edward Darel Hickey was struck — and didn’t survive. At this point, the Aurora Police Department is sharing only the bare-bones details. The victim of the shooting last night in the 1900 block of North Clinton Street has been identified as 16-year-old Edward Darel Hickey.
Investigators continue to actively work the investigation, but have no other new information available for release.
Information released the morning of August 4, 2010:
On August 3, 2010, at approximately 11:25 p.m., Aurora Public Communications received several calls reporting shots fired and several people running in the 1900 block of North Clinton Street in Aurora.
Responding officers found a 16- year-old male in an apartment in the 1900 block of North Clinton Street suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. He was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his wound a few hours later.
Major Crimes/Homicide detectives responded to the scene and are in the early stages of their investigation. It appears that a number of shots were exchanged on the street between the victim and at least one other shooter.
Investigators are actively working the case but have not yet established a motive.
