Early on January 5, a man now identified as Douglass Singleton, 59, was gunned down on the 2600 block of North Leyden Street in what Denver Police continue to insist (despite doubts from many observers) was a medical-marijuana-related transaction gone wrong.

Now, the Denver DA’s office has charged Peter Bellar, 26, with the crime — and its release makes no mention of marijuana, choosing instead to focus on the acts of murder and robbery rather than what product may have precipitated them.
