The body found in a Xenia Street alley late Thursday night wasn’t the only grisly discovery in the metro area late last week. A dead woman was spotted along North Chambers Road in Aurora on Friday morning, with local law enforcers initially expressing exasperation that the incident came to their attention amid large-scale walkouts at Aurora schools related to continuing protests over a Ferguson, Missouri grand jury’s no-indictment decision in the Michael Brown case.

As reported by Fox31, students from Smoky Hill, Rangeview, Overland, Gateway, Hinkley and Aurora Central high schools joined teens from East High School and others in the Denver area in leaving classes last week to express their distress about the Brown case and related matters.

The volume of students meant plenty of Aurora police officers were dispatched to monitor their movements — and a number of tweets keeping the public abreast of developments suggested a certain level of frustration with the duty. Here’s one example….

Officers were dispatched around 11:15 a.m. on Friday. Turns out that employees working for the city’s Park and Open Spaces branch were conducting a routine cleaning operation in the vicinity when they came upon the body and contacted police. Shortly thereafter, the APD’s homicide unit and crime-scene investigators took over, suggesting that foul play was at least a possibility.

Thus far, no cause of death has been announced, and neither has the victim been identified beyond her description as a “deceased female.” Meanwhile, the APD acknowledged over Twitter that officers weren’t delayed too much by the student protests:
