The death of ten-month-old Adam Gonzales on Friday morning was only the beginning of what was arguably the bloodiest weekend in Denver this summer, with three homicides taking place on Sunday.
The first took the life of David Hubbard near the intersection of 33rd and Grape.
According to Denver Police Department spokesman Sonny Jackson, “that was a drive-by shooting situation. Three males were on the corner, and shots were fired from a gray sedan that struck the victim” — Hubbard, 52, who was transported to Denver Health at 3:50 a.m.
Less than half an hour later, Hubbard was pronounced dead. An autopsy performed by the Denver coroner’s office has determined the cause of death to have been a gunshot to the chest.
