Carl Martin: Phony cop allegedly confiscates weed — and eats it

Although marijuana is included in many edible products these days, few people choose to eat it in the form of a joint.

That’s one of many ways Carl Martin allegedly stands apart. Note that he’s accused of confiscating said joint while pretending to be a cop — and then after gulping it down, he attempted to arrest the person from whom he’d taken it.

Martin’s claims of a law enforcement background with assorted agencies were dubious from the get-go. After all, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department, he tried to charge the original joint holder with possession after he’d swallowed it — meaning that he should have made the same accusation against his own digestive system.

Not that the CSPD leveled such an accusation against him. Instead, he’s facing an impersonating-an-officer beef.

400 S. Hancock Avenue

Summary: On 08/10/10, Officers from the Gold Hill Division were dispatched to the 400 block of Hancock Avenue in regards to a disturbance. Prior to police arrival, a male suspect stated to citizens that he worked for Baca County Sheriffs Department, and had taken a marijuana cigarette from one of the citizens on scene and eaten it. He then attempted to place that citizen under arrest for possession of marijuana. Officers arrived on scene and contacted a suspect who identified himself as being a part of law enforcement. The male identified himself as a training officer for the Colorado Springs Police Department Canine unit, the El Paso County canine unit, and the Air Force Academy Canine unit. Investigation reveals that the males claim of currently being a law enforcement canine trainer were false. The suspect was arrested and booked into the El Paso Criminal Justice Center for Impersonating a Peace Officer.
