Lining up.
As soon as Tuesday’s taping of The Daily Show With Jon Stewart wrapped (read all about it here), I raced back to Westword‘s 10th and Broadway office, parked my car, and began the trek to the Pepsi Center for the evening’s Hillary Clinton-centric spectacle. Earlier in the day, I’d walked right up to the security checkpoint — but it was a much different story a few minutes past 7 p.m. An enormous mob was on hand, stretching along Auraria Parkway for blocks. A Secret Service officer explained the rub. The tent to which everyone was headed had originally been set up for press only — but instead, all attendees were being filtered through a single flap, creating an epic bottleneck. Remind me: How long has this convention been planned? — Michael Roberts
