We’re big fans of Illegal Pete’s Starving Artist series. It’s a great service for hungry bands in town or on tour, and it happens to be one of the more innovative marketing ideas we’ve seen in a while. That said, it’s not always easy to dig up the ambition to head downtown to catch the series. If you’ve been itching for a means to support the cause of the Starving Artist Program and catch a few tracks from some of Denver’s biggest acts, now’s your chance.
To help support the bands on their trip to South by Southwest, as well as raise money for the program itself, Illegal Pete’s has released a compilation of the eight acts on their bill. None of the tracks are new, but that shouldn’t stop you from considering donating to a good cause.
It’s a pay-what-you-want model, so feel free to drop off whatever you feel is fair. While there are plenty of other bands heading down to the festival this year, this is just one way you can donate without having to get up from your chair. Doing so will net you tracks from Air Dubai, Take to the Oars, American Tomahawk and more.
Of course, you can also check out the actual showcase, which is going down this Friday at Peckerheads on Sixth in Austin — you know, if you happen to be in the area.
