Flashlights is now FLASH/LIGHTS. Last week, the outfit, which has made significant strides locally under its original moniker, including garnering a highly enviable slot opening for New Order at 1STBANK Center, received a cease-and-desist letter from a like-named Florida-based punk band.

As a result, the Denver-based act had to change its handle earlier this week. The group is just the latest to run into a redundant handle situation, either with a band with the exact same name, as in the case of Houses, or one that is remarkably similar, as with Eolian and Eolian Empire. It’s doubtful that FLASH/LIGHTS will lose any momentum, as the change isn’t that drastic.
