Just because you’re all grown up doesn’t mean you have to stop loving the circus, especially this one: The Sensory Circus makes its debut on Thursday, May 8, at Cervantes’ Masterpiece Ballroom. A festival of sight and sound, this show features eclectic visual art pieces from locals Jerry Simpson, Mark Friday and Steve Spencer. The live spectaculars include a talk by Denver author Tama Kieves and a performance of spoken-word and original poetry, with musical accompaniment, by KUVO’s Andy O’Leary; a collection of independent film shorts follows. But wait! There’s more! Icedfacade performs “The Uprising of Another Antarctica,” a collaborative modern-dance piece choreographed by Natalie Taylor. Regional fusion band MindGoFlip (pictured) closes the event — a sure-to-be-memorable, if overwhelming, eveing of entertainment. Step right up.
