On its recent and aptly named Tour EP, Canada’s Cancer Bats cover Tegan and Sara, the Faint and Murder City Devils — which, of course, gives not the slightest indication as to what the band actually sounds like. Bred on metal and honed by hardcore, Cancer Bats infuse their latest full-length, 2008’s Hail Destroyer, with a blistering and bloodcurdling belligerence that comes across like the Canuck equivalent of Gallows (which makes sense, seeing as how they appeared on Gallows’ latest album, Gray Britain). The group — whose new long-player, Bears, Mayors, Scraps & Bones, is due later this year — plays Cervantes’ Saturday in support of Anti-Flag and Aiden. But don’t be surprised if their face-ripping anthems steal the show.
