Stuck with nothing to do this weekend but twiddle your thumbs? Here’s something else you can do with your hands. This Saturday, Quincy Dancer will host the seventh annual Flipcup’alooza Tournament & Block Party at Fado Irish Pub. But this isn’t just your average flip cup party, if there is such a thing: Flipcup’alooza will feature food carts, music from DJ Escal8, all-you-can-drink beer (for those who register) and a crazy afterparty featuring cover band Nevermind the 90s.

The tournament will take place across sixteen tables, each of which stages a division oft he round-robin competition. The winners of each division will then advance to a sweet-sixteen-style tournament. Those who don’t advance enter their own bracket for the potential to win consolation prizes. The competition begins at 6 p.m., but competitors must check in by 5 to avoid forfeit. Matches are expected to last until 9:30 p.m. Then, after a brief awards ceremony, the afterparty will begin.
Five-person teams are welcome to register online for $180 per team, and all teams must include at least two women. Team themes are mandatory, but why wouldn’t you dress up when there’s a costume competition with a $250 bar/food tab up for grabs? Other prizes include a $750 tab for first place, a $500 tab for second place and a $300 tab for third place, as well as pool beer pong floaties for all of the top three. The winner of the losers’ bracket will take home a blinged-out toilet seat and a round of shots.

Your support strengthens our coverage.
We’re aiming to raise $50,000 by December 31, so we can continue covering what matters most to this community. If Westword matters to you, please take action and contribute today, so when news happens, our reporters can be there.
If you don’t want to play but do want to watch, you must still register online beforehand. Visitors can get into the bar without registering, but not the tournament area. Registration for both teams and spectators closes tomorrow at noon or when capacity is reached. Entry is $20 for spectators.
