There’s no shame in giving thanks at the bar as opposed to the table, or in taking a break from the family to catch a quick buzz — which is why many local watering holes will be open on Thanksgiving. Here’s a rundown of some of the best spots in town to booze it up on Turkey Day. And if you know of any others, feel free to share them in the comments section below.

El Tejado, 2651 South Broadway, will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (sans its mariachi band, unfortunately); call 303-722-3987 for more information.

The Fainting Goat, 846 Broadway, opens its doors at 5 p.m.. Fair warning: the pub will be closed on Friday.

Wyman’s No. 5, 2033 East 13th Avenue, opens at 5:30 p.m. tomorrow.

Highland Tavern, 3400 Navajo Street, opens at 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving. The kitchen will be closed, but football will be on TV.

The Bar Car, 819 Colorado Boulevard, will be open according its Facebook page; call 720-524-8099 before heading that way.

Sputnik, 7 South Broadway, will open at 7 p.m. for regular service, and for those looking for more than food, the Hi-Dive next door is hosting a free Thanksgiving party with tunes from JJ.
