The West End Tap House, at 3945 Tennyson Street, opened this afternoon and is hoping for a quiet weekend to sort out the kinks and the glitches before it gets rolling next week.

The new pub features twenty craft beer on tap, mostly from Colorado, as well as twenty wines by the glass, Colorado-produced spirits and a limited menu focused on made-from-scratch burgers and Belgian-style frites with dipping sauces.

“This will be more of a social spot, a nicer social establishment, and less of a dinner one,” says co-owner Kurt Von Reiter.

Von Reiter was the general manager at the Pour House Pub for seven years downtown. His business partner is Steve Waldo, who worked for Highland Tap & Burger. “We are two bartenders and GMs who finally got a chance to do our own thing,” he says.

The building is the former home of the Comfort Cafe, a nonprofit, pay-what-you-can restaurant that closed last September.

West End will be open from 3 p.m. to midnight during the week and from 3 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
