Are you really a serious home baker? Do you slice cookies off a pre-made frozen loaf or create them tenderly from scratch? Do you use store-bought pie crust or roll your own? Exactly how passionate are you about the baked goods that come from your kitchen?

If the answer is “very” — and you’re willing to throw down $1,185 to improve your baking skills — then head to Boulder today for the first in a ten-week Pastry Skills series of classes.

Pastry Skills covers the theory and technique of classic French pastry; you’ll learn essential baking formulas, recipe adjustments for high altitudes, garnishing and presentation, how to work with chocolate, intermediate cake decorating, candy-making and much more.

The classes run every Monday and Tuesday through April 20 from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.; you should have already taken a Basic Pastry Techniques or Basic Cooking Techniques class if you want to keep up with the Pastry Skills folks. Call 303-494-7988 to register, and visit www.culinaryschoolrockies.com for details.
