Update: Clown Question, Bro will be tapped at 4 p.m. on Monday; clown costumes encouraged. The beer also has a logo — at right.

Nineteen-year-old Washington Nationals star Bryce Harper didn’t take kindly to a question from a Toronto sports reporter about what kind of beer he planned to drink to celebrate a monstrous home run yesterday during a game between the Nationals and the Blue Jays. After all, the slugger is underage in this country, even if he’s legal in Canada. “That’s a clown question, bro,” Harper said. That phrase is currently going viral (see videos below), and now it’s also a beer.

What most people don’t know, insists the Denver Beer Co‘s Charlie Berger, is that Harper was actually answering that clown question by naming his favorite beer — even if he didn’t know it. “You just have to change the emphasis of the words in his comment,” Berger says.

Either way, Denver Beer Co is brewing a beer — a Canadian lager — called Clown Question, Bro, which will be ready by June 25, when the Nationals come to Denver for a four-game stand against the Colorado Rockies.

“Maybe he’ll come here, although he can’t drink it here,” says Berger, who says the beer will be an easy drinking lager-like brew similar to Kokanee. It is definitely his favorite beer, and maybe we’ll serve it with a big red clown nose.”
