Leopard-print stilettos, animal print shirts, safari dresses and jungle hats were all part of the fashion statements at last night’s Do at the Zoo, a yearly romp around the Denver Zoo grounds that showcases dishes from dozens of Denver restaurants and cocktails and beers from local distilleries and breweries.
More than sixty restaurants participated, including Vesta Dipping Grill, Root Down, The Corner House, the Populist, Beatrice & Woodsley, Central Bistro & Bar, The Kitchen and the new Truffle Table, which, of course, strutted its best stinky cheeses. Pork belly was prominent, as was Colorado lamb, but there were a few surprises tossed into the mix, including lemon grass cotton candy from Parallel Seventeen and a sensational oatmeal-and-berry-crumble from WaterCourse Foods that resulted in lots of grabby hands from hungry social animals. I captured the event — a benefit for the Denver Zoo’s sustainability initiatives — in photos, the highlights of which you can view on the following page.
