Lakeview Lounge, a classic dive at 2375 Sheridan Boulevard in Edgewater, is a great place to drink any time of the day or night, as Drew Bixby reported in this recent Drunk of the Week. But the best time of all might have been this past Saturday morning, the last day before Daylight Savings Time ended, when it was still dark when Lakeview opened its doors at 7 a.m.

We grabbed stools at the bars and strong Bloody Marys, and looked past the pizza oven and microwave and jar of Slim Jims to gaze out the window, where the sky was brightening over Sloan’s Lake.

At exactly 7:34 a.m., the predicted time of sunrise, the sun appeared on the horizon — directly behind the dome of the State Capitol, illuminating the Denver skyline and soon making the sky so bright that the Lakeview bartender pulled the shades, returning the room into its usual gloom.

Want to see for yourself? Make a date to meet at the Lakeview same time, next year.
