In a town of environmentally-conscious restaurants, The Kitchen could be greenest of them all. And now it’s saving you some green, too. The homey restaurant at 1039 Pearl Street has a daily “tasting hour” from 5:30-6:30 p.m., with $5 wines and $2.50 beers complimenting an array of small bites. There’s also a three-course, $26 prix-fixe dinner menu that features chef Hugh Matheson creative, locally focused fare. (Think roasted Long Farm pork chop and Munson Farm squash soup.)

And the Kitchen has also revamped its wine menu — lowering prices to the lengthy list compiled by wine director Karim Boulet. (The restaurant also has five members with second-level sommelier training, which is nothing to shake your chablis at.)

High-quality fare at lower prices? We’ll drink to that. — Tyler Nemkov
