A new restaurant, Ghost Plate & Tap, featuring 23 beers on tap and specialties from both the Wynkoop and Breckenridge brewpubs will fill the space where the Rocky Mountain Diner closed in February.
The Diner, at 800 18th Street, had been a downtown institution for two decades before a lease dispute brought about its end.
In March, the Wynkoop and Breckenridge brewing companies jointly bought the building that housed the diner, the three-story Ghost Building, hoping to lure the Diner back (The breweries had themselves merged their operations just a few weeks earlier).
When that didn’t work, the breweries decided to open their own restaurant concept there.

“We will have a few highlights from our other places and some new dishes as well,” says Wynkoop spokesman Marty Jones. As for the beers, they will include a good number from Wynkoop and Breck, as well as Great Divide, Odell, and “some harder to find stuff from little breweries in the area.”
Ghost Plate & Tap is scheduled to open in early July, Jones says.
