Beerman-about-town Marty Jones has landed a new gig.
The former Oskar Blues marketing whiz, Jones has taken a similar job at the Wynkoop Brewing Company, where he’ll be guiding the brewery’s fledgling canning project (the Wynkoop began canning its Railyard Ale last August and will follow up with Silverback Porter next month) and creating and promoting Wynkoop events and projects.
“There is indeed a move afoot to boost the focus on the grade-A beer at the joint,” says Jones, who has helped the Wynkoop organize its annual Beerdrinker of the Year contest every year. “It’s been fermenting for the past eighteen months or so with the arrival of (head brewer and another former Oskar Blueser) Andy Brown.”
He will also help market Wynkoop Holdings’ other local properties and launch a project to place kegs of Wynkoop-brewed beer into other local bars, clubs and restaurants.

Jones, the head idea man and PR guy for Oskar Blues in Lyons and the co-creator of the Canned Beer Apocalypse, the brewery’s groundbreaking decision to squeeze its big, bold microbrews into cans, left that brewer in September.
