It’s been a busy January for the Elway’s in the Ritz-Carlton. Not only has the Denver Broncos’ winning season resulted in an increase in customers on home-game weekends — for both the restaurant and the AAA Five-Diamond hotel — but the restaurant, which is co-owned by Colorado legend and former Denver Broncos quarterback John Elway, started a renovation project early this month.

Colorado-based design and architecture firm Rowland+Broughton, which also worked on Elway’s at Denver International Airport, is overseeing the project. The renovations include the creation of a new chef’s table that will accommodate up to twelve guests and has a private viewing area of the kitchen; an improved lounge area with a fireplace, and an expanded bar. Banquette seating and community high-top tables will be added to both the lounge and bar to accommodate more guests and encourage mingling, and all the new seating will be equipped with charging stations for those who prefer to keep their social interactions limited to Facebook.
And ambitious as the project is, the restaurant is continuing to operate on its usual schedule. “I’m happy to share that since most of the work is being done overnight, Elway’s downtown will remain open for the duration of the renovation,” says general manager Steve Janicek.

A good thing, too, because interest will only increase as the Broncos approach that Super Bowl. Expect a big crowd on February 2, even though the Game Day Brunch that Elway’s rolled out this past season has ended. But the regular a la carte brunch will be available, and happy hour runs from 4 to 6 p.m. in the bar. Let’s just hope that Denver diners — and all Bronco fans — end their night even happier.
