On Thursday, September 6, Dish, Westword‘s eighteenth annual food-and-drink festival, will fill the Sculpture Park at the Denver Performing Arts Complex with great entertainment, great drinks and great food from restaurants and trucks that have been hand-selected by Cafe Society scribes.
But Denver’s plate is very full this week, and Dish is just the start of the culinary action:
Wednesday, September 5: The first film in this year’s Chipotle-sponsored Sustainable Film Series at the Denver Botanic Gardens, 1007 York Street, is screening tonight at 6 p.m. The series will feature movies about food, eats from Chipotle, and thought-provoking panel discussions afterward. Tonight’s screening: Truck Farm, the story of how an old pickup truck — and the garden in the back — toured the country. Cured, 1825 Pearl Street in Boulder, welcomes Mindy Kearney of the Lorenza winery for a “happy hour” wine tasting today from 4 to 7 p.m. Kearney — who grew up in Boulder — will be samples rose wines paired with cheeses and meats from Cured; call 720-389-8096 for more details.
Saturday, September 8:
New Belgium’s annual Tour de Fat parades through City Park, 17th Avenue and York Street, today from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The festivities kick off with a giant participatory bike parade, followed by goofy cycling contests, live music and plenty of beer — although, the event is family-friendly otherwise. Admission is free, with a $5 suggested donation, and proceeds benefit the Denver Cruisers and Bike Denver. For more information and a full schedule, visit New Belgium’s website.
