Q: We’re going to the Aspen Food & Wine Festival the weekend of June 15 and plan to linger for a few days afterward. What’s the don’t-miss restaurant in Aspen for someone who’s never been there?
A: If I were you, I’d skip the festival and spend the money on several consecutive meals at Renaissance (304 Hopkins Avenue, 1-970-925-2402), where chef/owner Charles Dale amazes even the most persnickety of gourmands with his odd but successful ingredient combinations. Service here can be poetry in motion, and the wine list, while very pricey (hey, it’s Aspen) is a treat nonetheless.
