When Julie Carr read her populist great-grandfather’s diaries, she began to look at history’s darker sides.
“My hope is that readers will take a look in their own backyards, their own pieces of the wild…and start to recognize change.
The book was recently spotlighted by Margaret Atwood.
The event showcases both established authors and poets as well as new ones, presenting a unique opportunity for local writers to show off their work.

The Overland High School student won the state competition and will be jetting to D.C. to compete at the national level.
