Notable poet and translator Peter Cole, a 2007 MacArthur Grant awardee, has been called “one of the handful of authentic poets of his own American generation” by Yale University professor and author Harold Bloom. He’ll make two appearances this week, beginning tonight with a talk at the University of Colorado in Boulder and continuing tomorrow with a reading from his new book,The Invention of Influence, at Counterpath in Denver.

Eric Skokan, who supplies his Boulder restaurants Black Cat Bistro and Bramble & Hare with produce and meat from his own Black Cat Farm, shares recipes and wisdom drawn from his dedicated immersion in the farm-to-fork movement. A chef who works magic with the ingredients he often produces himself, he’ll offer an inside look at what it means to rise with the rooster. And at BookBar, you’ll get to taste some of his handiwork. Yum.
