Evan Weissman, one of the programmers behind the civic health club Warm Cookies of the Revolution, says he and his cohorts have wanted to create an event about how busy everybody is for quite some time. “We were talking about this idea that everyone is so busy — or feels busy, or feels they have to say they’re busy,” Weissman notes.

At the same time, they wanted to put together a family-friendly Warm Cookies event, and when a Saturday opened up at the McNichols building, they thought they’d won the jackpot. “We tend to get the building on Wednesdays, but they’re always off nights, which makes it harder for parents,” Weissman says. But when he told a parent about the Saturday plan, the parent responded that it was a bad time for families with kids. “And I was just thinking, when is a good time? That solidified it.”

So bring the kids along for the ride. The Why-the-Hell-Are-We-So-Busy Festival starts at 1 p.m. at the McNichols Building, 144 West Colfax Avenue, and includes yoga or an “improvised” aerobic workout with Hannah Duggan, followed by a discussion about public-policy changes that could help solve our social busyness problem. It’s free to attend; RSVP at warmcookiesoftherevolution.org.
Sat., Jan. 31, 1-3 p.m., 2015
