I love arts festivals. In my daydreams, I have unlimited cash in hand and time off work to peruse every last one within driving distance.

But those dreams haven’t come true yet, and I can only make it to one or two fests throughout the summer. The one that’s always at the top of my list is the Cherry Creek Arts Festival. It’s my favorite for obvious reasons. Although huge — the CCAF features 232 different artists — it’s also quite selective; participants are chosen from a pool of more than 2,400 applicants, making this one of the most competitive juried art events in the nation. That means that all of the art is lust-worthy.

It’s also convenient, taking place in the Cherry Creek North shopping district, on Second and Third Avenues between Clayton and Steele Streets. The arty party goes from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, with night programs tonight and tomorrow from 8 to 10 p.m. Visit www.cherryarts.org or call 303-355-2787.
Fri., July 4, 10 a.m.-8 p.m. & 8-10 p.m.; Sat., July 5, 10 a.m.-8 p.m. & 8-10 p.m.; Sun., July 6, 10 a.m.-6 p.m., 2008
