It’s only right that a benefit for the Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s largest LGBT civil rights organization, should have a wedding theme: The folks who support the group do so in part because they would dearly love to get legally hitched in their own state, and gay marriage is one of many current HRC issues. For now, though, they’ll just have to make do with bowling together, preferably at HRC Colorado’s Bowl and Chain bowl-athon, today from 2 to 6 p.m. at the storied Elitch Lanes, 3825 Tennyson Street.

But not without some of the favorite accoutrements of marriage: Along with an afternoon of crazy bowling and prize-winning, participants will compete in bouquet- and garter-toss contests, win prizes for their nuptial-ready garb and eat wedding cake; the registration fee of $35 includes not only all of the above, but an HRC membership, as well. Discounted group package deals are also available, ranging from $150 for five bowlers to $210 for eight; visit www.hrc.org/coloradobowling for reservations and information.

Sun., Nov. 22, 2-6 p.m., 2009
