The folks who throw Spa Week twice a year — once in the spring and once in the fall — couldn’t have chosen a better time for the vernal version of the event: Taxes are due, we haven’t had a public holiday since February 15 (Presidents’ Day), and the tension is running high. Relax, take a deep breath — and pick up the phone, because dozens of area spas are holding huge specials on all kinds of services.

“It’s so successful because it allows consumers to not only go to a spa to begin with, but it allows them to try new treatments they never thought they’d normally get,” notes spokeswoman Kelly Verdi. “Each treatment is $50, and normally they range anywhere from $130 to even $400. It’s great for consumers — and great for spas, because they’re getting new clientele and generating business. The spas love it.”

Appointments fill up quickly, though, so don’t wait to visit www.spaweek.com, where you can see a full list of participating spas and the treatments they’re offering and reserve your spot on the massage table.
