Ricky Gervais hosted the Golden Globes for the second time in a row this year — looks like, as predicted by Gervais himself, he won’t make it a third next year. Subjects of mockery: Steve Carell Plastic Surgery Himself (weight, penis size and masturbatory habits) Actors in general Hugh Laurie Kiefer Sutherland Angelina Jolie NBC/Jay Leno

Best line: “Let’s get on with it before NBC replaces me with Jay Leno.”

Lowest blow: “Some of those scenes, by the way, where Kiefer grabs someone and beats them to a pulp, they weren’t even in the script.”

Verdict: This year’s was better in every way — more awkward, less narcissistic (even sarcastically), more fearless. They never would have asked him back if he’d started with this one.
