I’m far from being the perfect mom. I work full-time, I no longer love to cook, and my house looks like Ground Zero, only worse. Clearly, a new book called The Woman Who Is Always Tan and Has a Flat Stomach (and Other Annoying People) was written just for me and my ilk.

Compiled and written by Denver-based authors Lauren Allison and Lisa Perry (who also offer seminars locally on something they call “Laugh Therapy for Everyday Women”), the comic tome strikes a chord: From the first chapter (“The Perfect Brownie Leader Who Uses Global Positioning Satellites on the Camping Trip to E-mail Photos to the Parents”) to the last (the title, redux), it’s a laugh-out-loud, silly book to which you can’t help but relate…unless you’re mentioned inside.

Allison and Perry will introduce and sign copies of their catalogue of rule-book-memorizing soccer moms and video-auteur dads tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Tattered Cover Highlands Ranch, 9315 Dorchester Street; visit www.tatteredcover.com or call 303-470-7050. And for more on the authors, go to www.thewomanwhoisalwaystan.com.
