Believe it or not, our dusty little burg’s been flourishing here on the plains for 150 years now, all the while supporting the rise of new buildings and laying more than a few to rest. Accordingly, “150 Years of Denver Architecture” is the theme of this year’s Doors Open Denver event, which features tours and behind-the-scenes peeks at the best of what’s left, with a tip of the hat to the new. Represented on one end by the enclave of 1850s structures at Four Mile Historic Park and, on the other, by the sleek, green hulls of brand-new buildings like the Museum of Contemporary Art/Denver and the United States Environmental Protection Agency, the citywide open house will focus on a decade-by-decade historical catalogue of urban explorations open to the public between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. today and tomorrow.
