Shopping for vintage and retro clothes can be fun and rewarding, but it can also be frustrating. Like when you find something you absolutely love and purchase it on a whim — only to discover that it doesn’t actually fit. Well, Cynthia Joye has a solution to that problem: a Vintage/Retro Clothing Swap.
“I did something similar when I lived in Pittsburgh,” she says. “Some girlfriends and I would get together twice, sometimes three times a year, and we were all kind of the same size, and we’d bring our clothes, and when we were done, we’d have a new wardrobe.”

E-mail Joye at cynthiajoye@msn.com to get your name on the list and directions to her place in Capitol Hill. “Some people really have a lot of stuff,” Joye notes, “so I’m limiting it to a garbage bag full of stuff.” Make sure your items are cleaned and priced, in case someone wants to buy something instead of swap; the suggested price range is between $5 and $20. There’s a $5 fee to participate in the swap, and Joye will provide a changing area so you can try on your new finds. Space is limited, so sign up now.
