Every year around this time, if you know when to look, the skies above Denver seem filled with shooting stars. That’s because the Meteor Shower, associated with the Swift-Tuttle Comet, is overhead, and the peak viewing should be tonight, when Jefferson County Open Space hosts the Perseid Meteor Shower Gathering at Alderfer/Three Sisters Park, 31677 Buffalo Park Road in Evergreen. Watching the show from such an altitude — and away from the light pollution of the city — is guaranteed to leave you starstruck.
The gathering, which runs from 1 to 4 a.m., is free, but registration is required at 720-497-7600. Participants are also encouraged to bring a lawn chair or sleeping bag for ideal viewing.
