If you see Santa running through Highland in a Speedo today, don’t worry: You haven’t been dosed — nor, presumably, has the guy in the Speedo. He’s just one of the many revelers participating in the Denver Santa Speedo Dash.
Squeeze into your skimpiest swimwear, strap on a Santa beard and any other festive accessories your heart desires — we suggest tinsel — and run a leisurely mile with your fellow festive freaks. And don’t wuss out just because it’s cold.
“If they want, they can wear gloves and scarves. I know a bunch of girls are wearing tights and leg warmers,” says organizer Christine Griesmer. “But ultimately, to have everyone in a Speedo would be ideal.”
Still not sure you should indulge the urge to strap on a banana hammock for the holidays? Just do it for the puppies: Proceeds go to the Life Is Better Rescue, which keeps animals from being killed in shelters.
