With its story of lost pirate treasure, its great characters and its unforgettable dialogue, The Goonies is still a fan favorite nearly thirty years after its release. And the film’s perfect blend of high adventure and heart, not to mention a timeless message about perseverance and friendship, made it an obvious choice for the outdoor Family Film Series at Aspen Grove, presented by the Alamo Drafthouse.

The Goonies is probably one of the best films that there is for a family film series,” explains Tom DeFrancia of Alamo Denver. “Everyone at the Alamo was really excited about the prospect of playing it. It’s an Alamo staple.”

The event will be hosted by One-Eyed Willie himself, with a treasure hunt, pirate-themed decorations and Goonies-inspired games for kids. Adults can chip in $4 to the Humane Society and get a voucher for a beer, and everyone can enjoy the movie on a forty-foot screen under the stars. Bring a chair to sit in, or rent one on site.

The party starts at 7 p.m., with the film starting at dusk, in the parking lot of Aspen Grove shopping center, 7301 South Santa Fe Drive in Littleton; admission is free. For more information, visit drafthouse.com/denver.
