An ending and a beginning collide today on the Hill in Boulder when the innovative and free-for-all Hill Flea debuts as both a traditional flea market and a “community edu-tainment playspace” where you can participate in workshops, swap athletic gear and recipes or watch artists at work. Continuing every Sunday through the end of October, the Flea will feature changing themes, from fall fashion and the harvest to winter sports and superheroes. At this lively launch, there will be a community samba march through the streets, as well as a free, public topper to the Boulder International Fringe Festival. Free Fringe performances, including a KidsFringe stage, will add to the celebratory atmosphere and offer a fitting farewell to the festival’s frenetic eleven-day run.

Visit the Hill Flea from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. every Sunday on Pennsylvania Avenue, between 12th and 13th streets in Boulder. Admission is free; for details and a calendar of themes, log on to www.thehillflea.com.

Sun., Aug. 23, 10 a.m.-5 p.m., 2009
