George Hickenlooper, seen here with a certain President of the United States, died during the 2010 Starz Denver Film Festival — and now, the George Hickenlooper Honorary Award is one of the most prestigious prizes at the event. This year’s winner, cinematographer Kramer Morgenthau, will be feted at tonight’s 7 p.m. UA Pavilions screening of a film he shot for Hickenlooper: Mayor of the Sunset Strip, an entertaining and weird documentary focusing on rock-scene oddball Rodney Bingenheimer.

Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper, George’s cousin, has recorded a special video introduction for the event, with Colorado Film Commissioner Donald Zuckerman slated to recognize Morgenthau, whose latest film is a little flick called Thor: The Dark World.
