The best part about karaoke is pretending to be a rock star for the duration of a song — or an entire evening, depending on how brave you are. And whether you’re getting down to “Billie Jean” for the first or thousandth time, there comes a moment when you’re hitting every note and actually sounding good, and you wish someone was there with a camera to record the momentous occasion.
Well, every Sunday at the Electric Cowboy, 8811 Harlan Street in Westminster, Cosmic YouTube Karaoke kicks off at 9 p.m. — with a camera available to record performances and post the results on, yes, YouTube. “We also have a 3-D laser show,” says general manager Louie Giunta. “It’s the only 3-D laser show in Colorado, so it’s quite the investment, but it’s got all sorts of images to flash right above the person who’s singing.” The camera-shy need not worry: Giunta collects permission slips from singers to post their video, so you won’t automatically wind up on the World Wide Web. Karaoke is free, and drink specials include $2 longnecks, $1 well drinks, $3 Jägermeister shots and $5 Jäger bombs.
