Fort Collins Is Getting an IKEA

The new Fort Collins location will be smaller than the full-sized IKEA in Centennial, but it'll have a lot of the same stuff.

Maybe it’s the way that it unleashes squabbles between previously loving couples or its endless supply of modern furniture with weird names like “MALM” and “BAGGEBO” that you have to put together with nothing but vague directions and your own audacity, but there’s just something about IKEA. And don’t forget the cinnamon rolls.

Colorado’s only full-sized IKEA store opened in 2011 in Centennial, and a plan-and-order point location opened in Colorado Springs in November 2025. Now the state is getting another IKEA store — a smaller one — in Fort Collins.

On February 17, three weeks after it announced it wouldn’t be opening a store in Broomfield, the Swedish furniture company announced plans to open four more U.S. stores — in Fort Collins, Chicago, Tulsa and Los Angeles — sometime in 2026.

The Fort Collins IKEA will be 64,000 square feet, less than one-sixth the size of the 415,000-square-foot Centennial IKEA, and will be located at the Front Range Village Shopping Center at 4250 Corbett Drive.

The Coloradan reported that the store will feature a central kitchen, bedroom and bathroom planning area, plus space for up to 3,200 items like home furnishing accessories and small furniture items. And don’t worry, there will still be food (Swedish meatballs, veggie dogs, hot dogs and the like) to offer some light at the end of the strange liminal tunnel of furniture and cheap decor.

The announcement of the Fort Collins store and three other U.S. stores brings IKEA’s count of new U.S. stores planned for 2026 up to ten, and it’s all part of an ongoing effort to grow the company, which reported $5.3 billion in total U.S. sales in the fiscal year 2025.

“FY25 was a year of meaningful connection and growth despite a challenging external environment. We strengthened our ability to serve customers through new store formats, digital innovation and expanded rewards, all while reinforcing our commitment to communities and the environment,” said Rob Olson, Interim CEO of IKEA U.S. in a news release. “Looking ahead to FY26, we will build on this momentum, focusing on continued investment in the U.S. to make IKEA more affordable, accessible and sustainable.”

Well, it’ll be something else to do in Fort Collins. But first, a word of advice: The wooden slats on the MALM bed tend to cave in.
