The Great American Beer Festival, which takes place annually in Denver, is the biggest and best sudstravaganza in the world. This year, the sold-out fiesta runs October 10-12 and features 626 breweries pouring an astounding 3,159 beers. But GABF is just the start.
Beginning this weekend and continuing through next Sunday, breweries, bars, restaurants and other venues in town will be pulling out all the stops, hosting beer dinners, parties, special tappings, bar crawls, meet-and-greets, smaller festivals, classes and a few hangovers that should provide even the nerdiest beer nerds with everything they could possibly need — especially if they missed out on tickets to the main event.

Loosely arranged under the heading of Denver Beer Fest — an umbrella term that Visit Denver has used for several years now to pro-mote the festivities — are literally hundreds of things to do, beginning today at Hops & Pie, 3920 Tennyson Street, which will host a special GABF edition of its monthly Littlest Big Beer Fest at 2 p.m. with beers from Firestone Walker, including a number of rarities.

Tomorrow, Falling Rock Tap House, 1919 Blake Street, will officially kick things off at 5:30 p.m., however, when its digital GABF clock hits zero. The granddaddy of the Denver craft-beer bars will will then tap some of the beers it’s been saving all year.
To find listings of all of the Denver Beer Fest events, check out Visit Denver’s dedicated page at denver.org/denverbeerfest or go to the Cafe Society blog at westword.com, where we have a constantly updated calendar.
