For seven years, the Pan African Arts Society has brought color and diversity to Denver’s palette of visual arts, poetry, cinema and music — all in the name of exploring and upholding some of the cultural art forms and heritage that take divergent paths from mainstream America’s way of life. So it was only a matter of time before PAAS took on one of the holiday behemoths representative of our obsessive-compulsive consumer lifestyle: Valentine’s Day.

Tell the Man exactly where to shove those red roses, teddy bears, singing telegrams and chocolate hearts tonight at 3 Kings Tavern, 60 South Broadway, by attending the Black Erotica Ball. The PAAS fundraiser is devoted to celebrating sex and sexuality — so leave the saccharine lovey-dovey attitude at home. The evening includes live entertainment and giveaways, all geared toward the 21-and-older crowd. Hit up www.panafricanarts.org/events.htm or www.myspace.com/3kings for details.
