Maybe it’s the shorter days, the colder weather or the anticipation of awkward family time, but there’s just something about Thanksgiving that entices people to drink. Tonight, the Corner Office invites you to reminisce about Thanksgivings past — and spend the evening drinking — at its Turkey Time Machine Party.

The theme of the party comes from the experience that many college students have when they return home during Thanksgiving break. “We would always go out to the neighborhood bar the night before because we didn’t have to do anything the next day,” says the Corner Office’s Cherice Engel. “That’s where we got the idea to feature shots we used to drink, like Jell-O shots, Alabama Slammers and Kamikazes.”

And you don’t even have to feel guilty about drowning your holiday anxieties with vodka-infused Jell-O, because a portion of the sales will be donated to Work Options for Women, a nonprofit that trains low-income women in food-service skills. “We’ve hired a couple of employees from WOW, and it’s worked out so well for us that we wanted to show our support by raising funds for them all day,” Engel explains.

The Turkey Time Machine Party starts at 8 p.m. at the Corner Office, 1401 Curtis Street. Music from the ’80s and ’90s will be provided by DJ Funkytown; happy-hour drink specials last all day, while happy-hour snacks start at 8 p.m. For more information, visit www.thecornerofficedenver.com.
