“Retro Day has really become a tradition here, and everybody loves to break out their best back-in-the-day costumes to celebrate spring,” says Eldora Mountain Resort spokesman Rob Linde about the annual event.
So break out your dazzling neon-hued suits from the ’80s or your old gear and outfits from the ’60s, ’70s or any other era and hit the slopes. A DJ at the base area will be blasting hits from the days of yore starting at 10 a.m., and New Belgium Brewing and other event sponsors are kicking in for costume-contest and dance-competition giveaways starting at 1 p.m.
But be advised that not everybody on the slopes will know that it’s Retro Day. “At Eldora, you never really know who’s in ‘retro’ gear and who’s just in retro gear,” says Linde. “We always have people here rocking some pretty old equipment, and every year we end up with people who look like Retro Day costume-contest winners and they’re like, ‘Oh, it’s Retro Day? What’s that?'”
