When a young woman impulsively sneaks into a theater in the dark of night, it usually doesn’t end well. But throw in some popcorn, six short horror movies — including an appearance by Lindsay Goranson, who stars in Sweets — and a comfy seat in the Esquire Theatre for The Theatre Bizarre, tonight’s Midnight Madness attraction, and there’s nothing to fear.
“A creepy anthology perfect for our midnight audience,” promises Landmark spokesman David Kimball. Of the six bloody, gory, slashy shorts, which one is Kimball’s fave? “I honestly have to say I liked them all,” he responds, “but my partner, who has a pretty solid stomach for material like this, had to look away a couple of times. There are similar themes of sex and violence throughout, but if I had to pick, I’d say Master of the Toads.”
Sex and violence? That’s reason to stay up late.
The Theatre Bizarre starts at midnight tonight at the Esquire Theatre, 590 Downing Street; the show repeats on February 3 and February 4. Tickets are $8 for adults (don’t even think about taking the kids to this); for more information, go to www.landmarktheatres.com.
